Didactic methods

Classes are held in the form of individual weekly consultations and revisions of the project, carried out by students throughout the year. Classes are supplemented by occasional lectures.

Liczba godzin w bezpośrednim kontakcie z nauczycielem akademickim 15 h: 4 h - introductory lecture 9 h - individual consultation
Liczba godzin samodzielnej pracy studenta związanych z osiągnięciem efektów uczenia się (zgodnie z profilem specyfiki kształcenia na wydziale) 15 h - preparation for classes and implementation of projects, (i.e., research, familiarization with the literature, own work on the project, preparation of printouts).
Prerequisites

- The ability to observe creatively,
- The ability to learn by example,
- openness to inspiration,
- familiarity with the use of software to the extent necessary to complete the task,
- diligence

* New applicants are asked to provide a typographic portfolio and complete a leveling task. Based on the evaluation of the above, a group of people will be selected for admission to the studio
Teaching goals (program content, subject description)

- gain technical knowledge related to the operation of typeface programs
- gaining skills related to professional typeface design
- increasing awareness related to the perception and use of typefaces
- developing sensitivity related to typographic detail
The form of passing the course (assesment methods and criteria)

- Evaluation of individual work (artistic) of the student / student according to the grading scale placed in the Rules of Study, i.e. evaluation of the degree of execution of the typeface project, completeness of materials presenting the typeface and involvement in the class.

 

Failure to attend 50% of classes will result in failure to pass the course.
Final requirements

- świadomość podstaw związanych z projektowaniem krojów pisma (historia, anatomia i budowa liter)
- posiadanie umiejętności technicznych pozwalających na prawidłowe (zgodne ze sztuką) wykreślenie kroju pisma
- umiejętne korzystanie z oprogramowania do tworzenia krojów pism
- świadome korzystanie z typografii
- przygotowanie materiałów pozwalających na publiczną prezentację opracowanego w trakcie zajęć kroju pisma

K_W01 - principles of creation and creation of basic graphic works
of a design character on the basis of traditional tools and modern technologies of
of graphic programmes.
K_W02 - problems connected with the theory of graphic design basics on the historical
and cultural background, necessary for defining and solving detailed issues related to the
the studied discipline.
K_W03 - the mutual, complex relations occurring between theoretical and practical
aspects of typography and uses this knowledge for further artistic development;
K_W07 - detailed issues of typography related disciplines,
allowing for the realisation of individual and
teams also based on contemporary multimedia techniques;
K_W08 - principles of free use of various media present in typography
both digital and traditional, and is able to develop them independently and expand their possibilities;

K_U01 - consciously use the highly developed ability to create own creative creative personality to realise independent artistic activities within the framework of the typography specialisation, as well as in various interdisciplinary activities;

K_U02 - independently design and realise artistic works in the field of typography, based on individual, creative motivations and inspirations, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and openness to different world views;

K_U03 - undertake at an advanced level independently tasks in the field of typography

K_U07 - consciously and responsibly select an appropriate typographic technique to achieve the previously planned effects of creative work;

K_U08 - use the typographic technique in a professional manner, and approach the it in an innovative and creative way;
