Completion of the first year of the long-cycle master's program:
Knowledge and skills in:
- inventory of buildings and structures
- basic technical drawing
- knowledge of graphic symbols on drawings
- structural structure of buildings and basic building physics
- basic ergonomics
- basic spatial composition
- knowledge of 2D programs for preparing design documentation and graphic programs

Teaching goals (program content, subject description)

The Studio will conduct a series of design assignments in the area of shaping function and the foundations of spatial composition, serving as an introduction to topics developed in subsequent years of study.

The assignments will foster the development of individual aesthetic sensitivity
and artistic awareness, as well as creative imagination and design independence.

It will also enable students to deepen skills acquired during the first year of study, such as formulating design assumptions, shaping artistic expression, designing with the human scale in mind, and consciously selecting forms and materials
in response to functional and aesthetic needs.

The curriculum aims to:
- expand the knowledge and skills acquired in the first year of studies
- familiarize students with the basic principles of design in the context of interior design and exhibition design
- learn about the interior design process (functional and spatial solutions, color schemes, selection of materials, furniture, lighting)
- learn about the process of designing exhibition spaces
(exhibition concept, composition, exhibition systems, color schemes, lighting, visual information)
- expand knowledge about the functioning of museums and local cultural institutions
- provide individualized corrections that encourage students to seek their own, original exhibition form and artistic expression
- analyze outstanding contemporary projects in the field of exhibition design and interior design based on albums, catalogs, and original photographic documentation
- develop teamwork skills
- learn self-correction and self-education

Sample Design Tasks:
Preliminary Tasks
Functional composition of a living space based on modular systems of simple functions for a selected user.

Analysis of the functional and formal solutions of an existing, selected public cultural facility – the lobby area.

Interior Design:
Main Tasks
Detailed development of a selected section of the created living space, selecting forms, colors, materials, and furnishings.

Interior design of a travel club inspired by the culture and art of a selected country/region (e.g., Japan, Peru, Italy, Andalusia, India).

Exhibition:
Preliminary Tasks
Museum Reportage
Functional layout of the exhibition space

Main Task
Exhibition design project
Favorite Artist – design an exhibition space presenting themes from a selected topic.

The form of passing the course (assesment methods and criteria)

Student's individual work will be assessed according to the grading scale provided in the Academic Regulations, from 0 to 5+.

The completion of individual or group tasks and their graphical presentations will be assessed according to the following scale:
1. Independence in making design decisions 30%
2. Creativity (artistic level and innovation of proposed solutions 20%
3. Correctness of design solutions (construction, materials) 30%
4. Active participation in class (attendance and participation in corrections) 10%
5. Clarity of message and aesthetics of project presentation 10%

Attendance: minimum 75% required for passing

Final requirements

Display of completed project tasks on 50/50 or 70/50 formats, multimedia presentations, preparation of documentation in electronic form
