Didactic methods

Classes are held in the form of individual weekly consultations and project revisions, carried out by students throughout the year. Classes are supplemented by occasional lectures.

- creative observation skills,
- ability to learn by example,
- openness to inspiration,
- knowledge of software to the extent necessary to complete the task,
- diligence

Final requirements

- awareness of the basics related to typeface design (history, anatomy and structure of letters)
- possessing technical skills for correct (artful) typeface drawing
- skilful use of typeface design software
- making conscious use of typography
- preparation of materials for a public presentation of the typeface developed during the course

The form of passing the course (assesment methods and criteria)

- assessment of the student's individual (artistic) work according to the grading scale set out in the Rules of Studying, i.e. assessment of the degree of execution of the typeface project, completeness of materials presenting the typeface and involvement in class.

- gaining technical knowledge connected with using typefaces software
- gaining skills related to professional typeface design
- increasing awareness related to the perception and use of typefaces
- developing sensitivity related to typographic detail

Description of the requirements for the studio, workshop or teaching aids

The student should have access to a computer with any operating system (windows or macintosh), Adobe Illustrator, and a black and white a4 printer. I urge students to try using typeface design software, even on a 30-day trial basis. Continued possession of a license for typeface software (Glyphs or Fontlab) is not mandatory, but welcome.

The weekly number of hours of classes or lectures, the number of ECTS points assigned to the subject and information on the form and completion of the subject are included in the study program and Course Cataloque (information is displayed in Akademus system)
