Assessment of a short essay prepared according to one's own project, a critical approach to the issues of contemporary artistic and social activity in the context and/or perspective of the ideas of the Middle Ages and their long duration.

Teaching goals (program content, subject description)
|
During our laboratory classes, I would like to take students on a fascinating journey through the world of medieval art and culture, which we will look at from today's critical perspectives, with the artistic activity closest to our times as our starting point. We will combine the basics of historical knowledge and art theory with the technological practice of today's world, forms and manifestations of contemporary art. This will allow us to better understand and provide the basis for a deeper analysis of the artistic heritage and the Middle Ages and its impact on today's culture and art.
The subject is addressed not only to lovers of history and art, but also to everyone who wants to understand how the past can shape our present and future, expressed and captured in the creative gestures of contemporary artists.
It is a subject that connects the past and the present, encourages us to discover new perspectives and inspirations in artistic works of the Middle Ages and to understand the nature of the present that we co-create.
One of the goals of the laboratory is a critical analysis of the present and contemporary works and creative acts in the broadest possible context of the duration of selected thoughts, attitudes, personal patterns, artistic ideas and motifs defining the character of the Middle Ages.
Our laboratory analyzes and discussions are intended to help us answer the question whether it is still worth learning history today, whether it can be a mirror of wisdom? Or maybe we just look at ourselves on the screens of smartphones, tablets and computers, treating every statement as true, even though we may suspect that the basis of these truths is not thought, but the emotions of people who position themselves as authorities, education and education considered "traditional" and "outdated", replacing with slogans and psychological and marketing reinforcements?
