Teaching goals (program content, subject description)

building and installation plans are to teach students what technical means to achieve the intended spatial and aesthetic effects, and - on the other hand - what are available and possible construction and installation solutions and materials used. Students after a series of classes in construction should be convinced that the use of various building solutions and products must result from the designer's intentions. The aim of the course is also to acquire the ability to make project documentation in accordance with the standards and applicable regulations and the rules of the art of construction.

Curriculum content (content of classes):

• Introduction - principles of conducting the subject. Architecture as a field of art and technology; construction and architecture. The specifics of the architect's design work; basic concepts; literature

• Technical drawing - introduction - preparation for inventory. Lines, scales, formats. Dimensioning. The influence of the natural and cultural environment on the building.

• Inventory drawing. Edition and development of the drawing exercise 1 (inventory of the lecture hall 1:50)

•    Technical drawing. dimensioning; Throws, cross-sections, views, details. Axonometry, graphic symbols, drawing of a staircase.

• Publishing and developing drawing exercise 2 (balustrade inventory).

• Structures and building elements. Construction systems. Tracks, spans - concepts.

• Building mechanics - the basics of building construction.

• Construction building materials and their features - stone

• Construction building materials and their features - fired ceramics

• Construction building materials and their features - steel

• Construction building materials and their features - concrete and reinforced concrete.

• Construction building materials and their features - wood

• Tasks, types of ceilings - spans, materials. Wooden, steel and Klein ceilings - types of construction; used products.

• reinforced concrete ceilings - types of construction; used products. Edition and development of drawing exercise 3 (cross-section diagram 1:50 and detail of joining the ceiling, rim, walls)

• Lintels, masonry walls - types of structures; used products

• Concrete and reinforced concrete walls - types of structures; used products.

• Foundations - feet, benches, plates; foundation level; deep foundations, diaphragm walls; anti-watertight insulation.

• Traditional vaults: shapes and forms, elements, statics.

• Roofs and flat roofs (shapes, various construction and technological solutions); wooden truss: roof rafter, collar beam, tick and purlin.

• Metal roof constructions

• Traditional installation systems. Ventilation, smoke and flue ducts and chimneys
